Meeting Minutes:
Feb. 26, 2010 Meeting
Highlights
The February 26, 2010 meeting was a hallmark event for the Cascade Chapter. Not only was it the first to be held in the Seattle area, but it also set an attendance record; eighty‐five people! The Chapter’s first off‐site tour was a tremendous success. Thirty unmanned systems professionals showed up early for an exclusive demonstration at the Boeing Vehicle Swarm Technology Lab. The general meeting was hosted in a room with panoramic views of the historic Boeing Field at the Seattle Museum of Flight. There, we heard from distinguished presenters like Dr. Juris Vagners of the University of Washington and John Vian of The Boeing Company. We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the event, and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

Nov. 9, 2009 Meeting
Highlights
The AUVSI Cascade Chapter is growing quickly. Almost sixty unmanned vehicle systems professionals converged at Newberg's beautiful Allison Inn for the November 9th gathering, meaning that the group had nearly doubled in size since the founding meeting (held only two months earlier). After a quick introduction, we voted unanimously to confirm the officers and directors that had volunteered in September. We enjoyed lunch while listening to presentations about various Pacific Northwest organizations and companies working in the unmanned vehicle systems industry. Highlights included Dr. Belinda Batten's presentation on her bio-inspired small UAV systems research at Oregon State University, as well as Phil Cronin's presentation on OMEP's program to help local manufacturers becomemore competitive through lean manufacturing. Once again, the meeting was a tremendous success. We invite you to join us as the Cascade Chapter of AUVSI continues to grow and build a stronger unmanned systems industry in the Pacific Northwest. Sept. 18, 2009 Meeting
Highlights
The founding meeting for the Cascade Chapter of AUVSI was a great success. An enthusiastic group of unmanned vehicle systems professionals gathered at the Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitors Center on Sept. 18th to kick-off the new chapter. With Mt. St. Helens looming in the background, we learned about the diverse range of people and companies developing unmanned systems in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to formal introductions and presentations, we enjoyed a delicious meal from the Fire Mountain Grill. We moved forward by amending and ratifying the constitution & bylaws, choosing officers and a board of directors, and selecting a chapter name. The Cascade Chapter was voted in, beating the Sasquatch Chapter and the D.B. Cooper Chapter by a not-so-narrow majority. We also fielded ideas for a community outreach program. Aram Soghikian (Hood Tech. Corp.) presented Lego Robotics, a program that gets kids involved in science and math by creating autonomous Lego robots. In all, the Sept. 18th meeting launched the Cascade Chapter by bringing motivated people together. We look forward to fostering the growth of our industry in the Pacific Northwest through communication, education, leadership, and some fun.
